I appreciate that it came with some cool markings to add more character to this base!
The weapon holders are a pretty cool addition, fitting both the Katana and the Mace of the MG Barbatos. I could not get the cannon to fit comfortably, however. Most pieces on the bay do swivel and move, however the walkway railings can be a pain to keep attached.
The runners and overall plastic are a much harder type than you'd find on a Bandai kit, so just be ready for that. Pieces will be harder to snap together and you'll have to spend some more time cleaning up the pieces (I did NOT spend the time, lol). But all in all - I believe it's worth it.
Weathering is also recommended for a more used look but not mandatory.
Thanks a lot
Cons:
- The plastic is super hard. Use your cheap snippers and be prepared to do some sanding to fit some of the pieces together.
- The instructions aren't always accurate. The instructions for the railings don't match up with the actual number of railing pieces they give you. The decal instructions show decals that aren't actually on the sheet.
- The railings would not stay in place on their own. I ended up having to glue them into the walkways.
Pros:
- Looks really great once it's all put together.
- Plenty of weapon racks
- The crane and robotic arms add flair but can easily be left off if you don't like it. (They don't provide enough plugs to fill the crane's hole with though. :-( )
Like others said, some of the parts that are supposed to be moveable are super tight. That's fine I guess as I really plan to make everything stationary once assembled.
If you're fine with mold/seam lines, this is a great kit (though a bit oversimplified).
If you're willing to put in the work (a lot of sanding) and willing to go so far as to break into the spares box and add some greeblies, add some wire, etc. you can really super detail this. Just be prepared to do the work (ie. a lot of seam line clean up).
It can also be used for 1/100 to 1/144 and KYOUKAI SENKI model kits.
You can choose from several combinations of parts, so the play value is highly recommended.
