As for what's not as wonderful? The hands (both a black and skin colored set) are a solid plastic, unlike the more flexible plastics of most mecha musume. The instructions are incorrect in several places: one of the wing assemblies will not assemble as shown ( part C7)- and attempting to do so will stress the plastic (flip it around 180 degrees instead!) and the fingers will not assemble as shown (part C43) but is easy enough to figure out. The arm socket tends to pull out of the kit and I'd recommend gluing those sections together. The sword scabbards don't have much of a 3mm peg to install onto the legs, and fall off rather easily. The red V fin falls off with very little effort, but gluing it on would make face-swapping impossible. The sword blade should be glued to the hilt. The red kneecaps (F8) tend to fly off with any pressure to the boots, glue them down too. And the instructions follow the standard 'assemble, then disassemble later' method- do yourself a favor and figure out which of the two chest styles you want and skip to those instructions.
The Junk Guild should think about this one before recovering it.
Pros:
-Lots of option parts, giving a variety of final build choices.
-The flight unit and powered arms are compatible with the Real Grade Astray Red Frame (not shown in the instructions, of course, but easy enough to figure out). The powered arms even have a clip that pegs into the palms to hold the Astray's katana.
-The stand is nice and sturdy, and can easily hold the figure off the ground in an aerial pose, allowing for dynamic displays.
Cons:
-The instructions are often unclear and sometimes outright incorrect. Do not put the balls on the hip joints as shown, you'll just have to pull them right off again anyway a few steps later. The fingers for the powered arms are also pretty badly illustrated.
-Changing out the optional parts is not simple. Choose which option you want early and just build it that way, because you might not get a second chance, due to.....
-Poor fitting tolerances on some of the pegs and joints. It can be very difficult to get some parts to fit without filing, and changing some of the optional parts, especially in the torso, requires significant disassembly. Be very, very careful. The hinges on the flight unit would not fit at all without some heavy filing, and I broke one of the hinges on the lower thruster and stressed another trying to get it right.
-The hands are made of hard plastic, which can make it difficult to get the rifles in. They can also stick in the wrist joints, which combined with the poor tolerances, can break the pegs. There are spares on the runner, but it's still annoying.
-The aformentioned clips for the powered arms are far too big to hold the swords that actually come with this kit. Sadly, she can't quad-wield her own weapons very securely.
Overall, it's not a terrible kit. If you just want the upgrades for the Astray, it's worth it for those alone, and the girl herself isn't bad as long as you're careful with her. But this is not a kit for a first-timer builder.
