Solid, sturdy build that was a ton of fun. This kit has so much detail and poseability, and I love the beam shot rifle's design and the pump action feature of it.
I can't wait to get some effects parts for this kit and the RG Nu to make an action sequence.
The aesthetics are top notch, despite a lack of panel lining opportunities on the legs, the detail all over is "S-tier" from metallic seals within the frame, pistons on the rear of the arms, and the most premium butt flap known to actionfigurenow.
The beam effects have the most amazing and vibrant color that glow when they catch the smallest amount of light. The beam shot gun and shield are well separated and highly detailed along with the coolest melee weapon of all, the beam tomahawk.
The only issue i have found is that the 'c' hinge to the front half of the foot is too tight while also not wrapping around enough causing it to pop off whenever I pose the toes. Other than a potential issue with the internal should hinge (caused when two pieces are not fully socketed) this kit is perfect.
This kit is definitely going down as a watershed moment in actionfigurenow development and I hope there is more to come.
As for the process of building this kit, it wasn't as complex as you would believe from looking at it and the number of runners. It does require your full attention and to pay attention on how parts fit together. I'm impressed at the clever engineering of the inner frame of the kit, especially the arms and this kit will need an action base to take full advantage of it.
Hot tip:
This kit is infamous for the tight shoulder joints that are prone to breaking because of how tight they are. So, here's what you can do. Use a lubricant or non-scented oil to lube the part and the peg and push it down, but don't twist it.
Thank you.
I built the MG kit of the Sazabi and hoping to see this kit embodies the Real Grade title that recent RG kits have been losing.
Thank you USA Gundam for this kit that I almost missed.
Definetely will continue shopping from USA Gundam, they never fail to deliver the best in cost/quality/speed.
I used Bandai waterslides purchased from USA Gundam Store for this model over the included stickers and completed it with a matte topcoat. The only real issue I had on this build was with the arm ball joints inside the torso. These can end up getting in the way when you have to piece together the torso piece and the front and back panels do not cleanly attach to each other. I suggest making sure that the piece is all the way in, even if it feels rough. If this comes up as an issue for you, please look up builds of this elsewhere for possible solutions, but I was able to get over it by just making sure the two ball joints in the torso were in all the way.
The final product is pretty stable, all things considered. It might feel a little floppy, especially the shield, but it will not fall apart when you pose or move it where ever you choose to display it. I know this is an issue with some RG models I've read about, but this one is remarkably stable considering its size and deserves its reputation as such. It can even allow for some unorthodox styles, like keeping the beam axe activated when attached to the shield.
I definitely recommend this model for someone who has cut their teeth on some HG models and wants to challenge themselves with an RG. Be sure to pair it with a Nu Gundam to keep it company.
My only real complaint is the shoulder joints and how hard you have to press to put them together. As long as you take it carefully though it'll be fine.
Overall great build and great model, fully recommend. If you only want one real grade kit get this one.
